Generous hems and elastic waistbands give room to grow. Provide the child's age plus three figures.
Use a cloth tapeA tailor's soft tape, never a metal one.
Ask a helperStraighter, truer numbers than measuring solo.
Measure your bodyBrand/label sizes vary — trust the tape.
Measure twiceMade-to-measure pieces can't be exchanged.
Stand the child tall and relaxed.

Waist
At the navel, one finger inside the tape to allow shirt room.

Hip / Seat
Around the fullest part of the hips.

Length
From the navel to mid-knee (or desired length).
Note. A surcharge applies over 24″ waist or 18″ length. 1,400+ tartans available.
