Full Dress Sporrans
Full dress sporrans are evening pieces, worn with a Prince Charlie or a formal Argyll after dark. A shaped metal cantle across the top, a fur or long haired front, and tassels hanging from the face. They are the most decorative sporran you will own and the most specific, because a full dress sporran in daylight with a casual kilt looks unmistakably out of place. If you already own a plain leather sporran and want one more, this is the one to add. Cantle designs run from plain polished metal through Celtic knotwork to thistle and clan crest detail, in chrome and antique finishes. Tassel count is usually three, though two and four both exist and neither is incorrect despite what you may be told. There is no rule attaching tassel count to rank or clan. Choose on how it looks against your kilt and keep the tassel metal matching the cantle.
