Dark Academia Plaid Skirts
Muted setts in brown, grey, deep green and charcoal, cut knee length or midi in pleated and A-line shapes. Dark academia draws on old university imagery rather than campus lawns, so the palette is restrained and slightly severe and Black Watch is the archetype. Bright modern colourways do not belong here. Choose your sett from over 5000 tartans and send your waist and finished length. Black Watch is the archetype and works every time, because its green and navy ground reads almost black at distance. Weathered and hunting colourways of most clan tartans also sit correctly. Anything leaning red or bright pulls the outfit towards preppy, which is a different and considerably louder aesthetic. Pleats matter here, since a pleated skirt at the knee carries a suggestion of uniform that a flared skirt does not.
