Tartan Plaid Sashes & Rosettes
Tartan sashes worn over one shoulder and pinned with a brooch, plus rosettes for games days, gatherings and clan society events. A sash is the formal Highland piece for women, worn at weddings, balls and Burns suppers, and it is the most traditional way to wear a family tartan without a full outfit. A sash is worn over one shoulder and pinned through both the sash and the garment beneath, so the dress carries the weight rather than the cloth. It falls diagonally across the back to the opposite hip. Most women wear it on the right, while clan chiefs, chiefs' wives and a few specific roles wear it on the left. Set the pin first, then adjust the fall.
