Bomber Jackets
Tartan bomber jackets with ribbed cuffs, collar and hem, in woven clan and fashion setts. The silhouette came from military flight jackets and has been essentially unchanged since the forties, which is why it never reads as belonging to a particular year. Cut to your own chest and sleeve. Choose the sett by how visible you want to be, since the cut itself is neutral. Ribbed knit at the cuffs, collar and hem is what defines the silhouette and it is also the first thing to fail. Hot water and a tumble dryer destroy that stretch faster than anything else. Size it to close over a fine knit rather than over a heavy jumper, since a bomber is a spring and autumn jacket rather than an outer shell for real cold.
