Tartan brought to the table rather than the wardrobe. Runners, placemats, napkins, coasters and aprons in woven setts, sized for everyday use and for occasions where the table is part of the event. A Burns supper, a Hogmanay dinner or a Christmas table all read differently with a family sett running down the middle of them. Over 5000 clan, district and fashion tartans. Start with a runner rather than a full cloth. A runner frames the table down the centre and leaves the surface visible, where a full tartan cloth commits the whole room. Placemats and napkins build outward from there. A runner should stop short of the table ends rather than overhanging, usually by around six inches at each end, so measure the table before ordering rather than the room.
