The Clan MacLachlan is considered to be one of the ancient Scottish clans that historically seated in Old Castle Lachlan that falls in Argyll and Bute beside Loch Fyne.The MacLachlan family is said to have built this Castle in the 15th century. In 1745 the Clan MacLachlan Chief extended his support to Bonnie Prince Charlie's army to fight in the Jacobite Rebellion and the Battle of Culloden, however the chief died during this battle leaving the castle unarmed.It is said that the English came on the land and destroyed the castle, however there is no official record of this. But what is known is that the castle was abandoned in 1746 and since then it has been turned into ruins.
The name Lachlan posses two different meanings.
