Tartan Kilts
The traditional kilt, made properly. Deep knife pleats across the back, two flat aprons at the front, leather straps and buckles at the side, and a hem that finishes at the middle of the kneecap. Choose your sett from clan, district and fashion tartans, and if your family tartan is not listed, send us the name and we will source it. Each kilt is cut to your own waist, hip and length rather than sized off a rail. This is the kilt for a wedding, a Burns supper, a funeral or a games field, and it is the one that stays correct for decades. Colourway matters as much as the sett name. Modern uses strong saturated dyes and reads brightest. Ancient uses lighter tones suggesting older vegetable dyes. Weathered is muted and browned, as if aged outdoors. Hunting shifts the palette darker and greener. Same pattern, four moods, and none is more authentic than another. Pleating is to the sett by default, which continues the pattern unbroken across the back, or to the stripe on request for the bolder pipe band effect.
