Campbell Of Lochawe Tartan

Clan Campbell was powerful in the West of Scotland and in Argyllshire. The Clan Campbell was known by the name of Diarmid who was granted the Lordship of Lochow in the 13th century. Colin Campbell of Lochow, the ancestor of the Campbells of Argyll got knighted around 1280. The following chiefs were Earls Argyll as well. In 1701 William of Orange conferred a Dukedom to the 10th Earl. The 9th Earl was executed in 1685 due to his involvement in the Monmouth Rebellion. The Campbells were prominently involved in state affairs and held top posts, including the heir to Lord Justice General as well as Admiral of Western Coasts and Isles of Scotland.
Campbell Of Lochawe Tartan is a bold and traditional design primarily featuring black and deep green, with striking blue accents. The dominant black squares represent the strength and timelessness of the clan’s heritage, while the rich green reflects the lush and verdant landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. The blue stripes add contrast, creating a visually appealing pattern that balances depth with vibrancy. The pattern is structured in a classic grid, where the colors intersect in a balanced and harmonious design. Typically woven from high-quality wool, the fabric is durable and warm, ideal for traditional Scottish garments like kilts, jackets, and scarves. This tartan’s understated elegance and classic color palette make it a timeless choice for those looking to honor their Scottish roots.
