I would like to say something positive, but I cannot. I measured my son 3 times for "the perfect fit." I went by your recommendations for fitting. I thought the sizing was off, but continued by your instructions. The kilt is about 3 inches too big, on the buckles tightest settings. It cannot be worn, as it slips right off of him. It is unwearable as is. I am very disappointed, as we were just in Scotland in October, my son is half Scottish, and was very excited that we purchased this for him, but quite disappointed that he cannot wear it. I am trying to find a tailor that can help me, so far no luck.

The kilt and sash in Montgomery plaid, arrived from Pakistan with courteous updates and great customer service.
Sadly the odor of chemicals when opened the package made me ill within an hour. Headache and nausea - I was afraid to wash the fabric, and the dry cleaner did not want to take it. It seemed “stiff” with impregnated “something”.
As I am allergic to chemicals, I am trying to get a refund.
Have noted the USA return address on the east coast, also called the number connected to it and actually spoke with a live person - who responded to my email.
My case is being reviewed - but as I cannot give these away or wear them myself, I will be sending them the east coast return address within a week, so that the odor can be experienced first hand.
I am disappointed - and saddened to write this. I note that others have had a similar experience.
If using a chemical is standard to prevent damage to the fabric - i suggest the manufacturer stops this - it is not acceptable and very very unpleasant.
Sincerely and sorry to feel I need to write this review.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
What is Flutes?
In the Scottish region, flutes are musical instruments known for their rich history and cultural significance. Traditionally made from wood, these wind instruments are played by blowing air across the mouthpiece to produce sound. The Scottish flute, often used in folk music, complements the country's vibrant traditional melodies. Its role is significant in Highland dances and Celtic celebrations, where it creates light, airy tunes that blend seamlessly with bagpipes and fiddles. Skilled flute players are highly regarded in Scotland, keeping the instrument’s heritage alive through performances at festivals, ceilidhs, and traditional Scottish music gatherings.
What is the significance of the flute?
The flute holds a unique cultural significance in Scottish history and traditional music. Known for its bright, melodic sound, the flute has been a staple in both folk and classical Scottish music. Its role in traditional ceilidh dances and regional festivals underscores its importance in preserving Scotland's musical heritage. Often played alongside bagpipes, fiddles, and drums, the flute adds a lightness to the robust sounds of Scottish ensembles. Its influence can be traced back centuries, symbolizing Scotland’s deep connection to musical storytelling, community spirit, and the passing down of cultural traditions across generations.
What are the unique features of the flute?
The flute in the Scottish region holds a unique place in traditional music, often used in folk and Celtic styles. Its distinctive features include a simple yet elegant design, usually made from wood or metal, allowing for a wide range of tones, from soft and mellow to bright and lively. Scottish flutes, particularly the wooden ones, are known for their rich, earthy sound that complements other traditional instruments like bagpipes and fiddles. Additionally, Scottish flute playing techniques often emphasize ornamentation, fast fingering, and rhythmic complexity, making it a key component of Scottish musical heritage.
Are there any Special Occassion of Flutes?
In Scottish culture, flutes are not as prominent as bagpipes, but they do hold a unique place in certain special occasions. The transverse wooden flute, also known as the Scottish flute or simple-system flute, is often played during traditional ceilidhs (gatherings or parties) and folk music events. These flutes add a softer, melodic sound to the vibrant Scottish music, complementing the energy of other instruments like fiddles and pipes. Special occasions like weddings, Burns Night, and Highland festivals sometimes feature flute performances to evoke a sense of tradition and celebration.
How to Care for our Flutes?
The care of flutes, especially traditional ones like the wooden Scottish piccolo, is deeply valued. Regular cleaning is essential to maintain sound quality and preserve the instrument's longevity. After each use, gently wipe the flute with a soft cloth to remove moisture and oils from the surface. Wooden flutes require occasional oiling with bore oil to prevent drying and cracking. Store the flute in a protective case to shield it from temperature changes and humidity. Proper care not only maintains the instrument’s rich tones but also honors the tradition of Scottish musical heritage.
