Men's Kilt Size Guide

A kilt is worn high at the natural waist. Take four measurements standing straight — no sucking in, no pushing out — and it will hang and swing the way it should.

Worn high at the natural waist — a little above the navel.

How to measure

  1. 1

    Waist Blue

Run the tape where you want the top of the kilt to sit, pulled just snug. Your true waist is usually about 2″ larger than your trouser size.

  2. 2

    Hip / Seat Red

Loosely around the widest part of your seat. Back to a wall, ease backward — the first point to touch is the spot to measure.

  3. 3

Fell — waist to hip Drop

Straight down from waist point to hip point. The pleats are sewn down along this length, giving the kilt its swish.

  4. 4

    Length Gold

From your waist point down the side to the knee — top of knee for traditional, mid-knee for most.

Good to know. If unsure on length, 22.5″ suits most men; the Ultimate Commando sits higher, so add 1–2″.
