Shawls, Wraps & Scarves

Tartan shawls, wraps and stoles worn over the shoulders rather than around the neck. Wider than a scarf and cut for formal Highland dress or for warmth over a coat. A wrap carries no convention about which shoulder or how it is worn, which is the practical difference from a sash. Tartan Shawls, Wraps and Stoles

The difference between a wrap and a sash is convention rather than cloth. A sash is narrow, goes over one shoulder and carries rules about which side. A wrap sits across both shoulders and carries none, which makes it the easier choice for anyone who does not want to think about it.
