Description

Historical Significance

The Iron Horse Tartan is a relatively new addition to the rich tapestry of Scottish tartans, created in 1998 by Gordon Teall from the Isle of Skye. It was officially registered with the Scottish Tartans Authority in 2001, honoring the railway industry in Scotland. This unique design represents the Iron Horse organization, a community of American motorcyclists celebrating their heritage through tartans. Unlike traditional Scottish clans, Iron Horse is inclusive, welcoming anyone passionate about motorcycles. Notable figures like Donald Ackerman, who served as Clan Chief in June 2002, have helped the tartan evolve into a symbol of pride and camaraderie among its members.
