Historical Significance
The Henderson Clan is one of the most well-known Scottish clans, with a history dating back to the 14th century. The clan takes its name from the son of Henry, whose name was MacEanruig in Gaelic. Originally located in the glen of the River Lyon in Perthshire, the Hendersons were renowned for their archery skills and warrior prowess. In the early 17th century, the clan chief was among the first to sign the National Covenant, affirming Presbyterianism as Scotland's official religion. The Henderson name gained prominence throughout the 14th and 15th centuries, with claims of residence in Glencoe predating the MacDonalds. The clan also supported the Jacobite cause, participating in significant battles such as the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689.
Color Scheme & Pattern
This tartan features a harmonious blend of green, blue, black, and yellow, warm grey, creating a balanced and visually appealing pattern. The primary color is a muted green, forming the base of the design and evoking the natural landscapes of Scotland. Blue stripes add a cool contrast, imbuing the pattern with depth and calmness. Black lines provide structure and definition, while thin yellow and grey stripes introduce a subtle yet bright accent, enhancing the overall design. The combination of these colors results in a tartan that is both classic and versatile, perfect for those who appreciate a timeless design reflecting Scottish heritage with a modern touch.
