The Ross Ancient Tartan originates from the esteemed Clan Ross, a symbol of centuries of valor, loyalty, and resilience. Clan Ross's roots trace back to the 13th century when Fearcher MacinTagart earned the title of Earl of Ross, marking the clan’s rise in Scottish history. The Rosses became key allies of Alexander II, III, and Robert the Bruce, playing crucial roles in battles against English forces. Granted the lands of Balnagowan in 1374, they held these lands for over three centuries. Through battles, including the Battle of Harlaw in 1411 and conflicts with the Mackays, Clan Ross remained steadfast. David Ross of Balnagowan further solidified their legacy by signing the National Covenant in 1638 and fighting in the Jacobite rebellions. Clan Ross’s enduring spirit is woven into their tartan, symbolizing their rich history and unwavering loyalty.
This tartan showcases a lively and intricate design, with a bold orange-red base that brings energy and vibrancy. The pattern is accented by bright green squares, adding a refreshing contrast that evokes the natural beauty of Scotland. Blue stripes intersect the design, creating a cool and balanced interplay with the warmer tones. Crafted from high-quality acrylic wool, this tartan offers exceptional warmth, durability, and comfort, making it an ideal choice for those who appreciate vibrant heritage and timeless style.
