Historical Context
The Reid Clan, with roots tracing back to the Middle Ages, originated in the Scottish Lowlands, particularly in Galloway. Renowned for their defensive role in the region, the Reids have a rich history intertwined with Scotland's heritage. The clan's motto, "Veritas Vincit" (truth conquers), reflects their values. The current chief, Alexander Reid of Straloch, is recognized by the Lord Lyon King of Arms. The clan's crest features a demi-savage wielding a battle-axe, symbolizing strength and valor. Over the centuries, various branches of the clan have spread to northern Scotland and Ireland, each contributing to the tapestry of Reid history. The Reid Tartan, characterized by its unique pattern and colors, is a proud emblem of this storied lineage.
Tartan Color Scheme and Pattern
The Reid Green Tartan showcases a striking arrangement of blue, black, green, and red. Each color holds symbolic significance:
- Blue: Represents loyalty, akin to the vast sky.
- Black: Symbolizes the earth, connecting the clan to their ancestral land.
- Green: Reflects the forest, indicating strength and vitality.
- Red: Denotes courage and boldness, reminiscent of fire.
This unique tartan pattern not only enhances the elegance of your attire but also pays homage to the rich heritage of the Reid Clan. Crafted from 100% acrylic wool, the tartan ensures both durability and comfort.
