Matheson Tartan

Matheson tartan history was a long time ago. Sir Fergus John Matheson, the 7th Baronet of Lochalsh, was a renowned soldier who served as Clan Chief from 1993 until 2017. His distinguished military career included serving as a member of the Honourable Corps of Gentleman at Arms, where he protected the Queen. After his retirement, his son Sir Alexander Fergus Matheson, the 8th Baronet of Lochalsh, succeeded him as the current clan chief. Sir Alexander also has a strong military background, having previously served as the Adjutant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. With both father and son having such impressive military careers, it's clear that bravery and loyalty run deep in the Matheson family.
The color scheme of the Matheson Clan's tartan includes a rich combination of red, green, blue, and pink. The predominant color in the pattern is a deep shade of forest green, which represents the lush landscape of the clan's traditional homeland. The red stripes running through the tartan are said to symbolize the blood of the clan's forefathers, while the blue and pink accents add a touch of vibrancy and contrast to the design. The pattern of the Matheson Clan's tartan is a classic Scottish tartan design, featuring horizontal and vertical stripes of varying widths. The tartan is made up of a repeating pattern of thin green stripes and wider red stripes, with blue and pink accents interspersed throughout the design.
