Historical Context
Dive into the rich history of the MacTavish Ancient Tartan, a design that embodies the storied heritage of the MacTavish clan. The MacTavishes were ardent supporters of the Jacobite cause, fervently backing the restoration of the Stuarts to the throne. The clan's name, derived from the Gaelic "MacThamlais," meaning "son of Thomas," has deep roots in the picturesque landscapes of Argyllshire and Strathglass. The MacTavish lineage is closely linked with other noble Scottish families, with the MacTavishes of Strathherrick recognized as a sept of the Frasers, and the main branch regarded as septs of the Campbells. Today, Clan Chief Steven MacTavish of Dunardy proudly preserves the clan's legacy, ensuring its traditions continue to thrive for future generations.
Color Scheme and Pattern
The MacTavish Ancient Tartan features a striking combination of light red berry, sky blue, and black. These colors symbolize the local customs and Scottish traditions, reflecting the clan's vibrant heritage. The tartan's pattern is characterized by a unique arrangement that intertwines these colors, creating a visually appealing design that captures the essence of the MacTavish identity. Made from 100% acrylic wool, this tartan offers durability and comfort, making it an excellent choice for both stylish attire and everyday wear.
