MacLeod of Harris Tartan

The tartan is derived from the Mackenzie tartan used by John Mackenzie in 1771 when he raised the regiment known as "Lord Macleod's Highlanders". The Mackenzies claimed to be heirs to the chiefship of the Macleods of Lewis, after the death of Roderick in 1595. This tartan is dark green and midnight blue in color, those two hues composing the background of the MacLeod of Harris Tartan. Running through the tartan in the foreground is bright, sunny yellow and cherry red, thin lines that add a pop of color to the look.
