MacKean Hunting Tartan
The MacKean Hunting Tartan carries with it a rich historical legacy deeply rooted in the sea-swept Hebrides islands and the rugged western coast of Scotland. The McKean family's origins can be traced back to the ancient Dalriadan kingdom, with their ancestral seat nestled in the picturesque Argyllshire. Derived from the Gaelic form of the given name Ian or John, the surname McKean encompasses variations like MacIan, MacAne, MacKane, MacKean, MacKain, and more. Throughout history, notable individuals bearing the McKean name have made their mark, such as Archibald McKain, the Scottish shoemaker and chief of MacIain of Ardnamurchan, and Thomas M'kean, a signer of the American Declaration of Independence. Today, the McKean surname stands as the 5,903rd most popular in the United States, carried proudly by approximately 4,974 individuals. The McKean Clan's influence extends far and wide, with branches of the family having migrated to Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The MacKean Hunting Tartan is characterized by an enchanting array of colors that evoke the spirit of the Scottish landscape. Its design features stripes of vibrant green, profound black, regal blue, pristine white, and passionate red. The intertwining hues create a harmonious tapestry that reflects the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Scotland. The juxtaposition of these colors represents the McKean Clan's connection to the land, sea, and sky, embodying the resilience and enduring spirit of their ancestors.
