Historical Significance
The Hay and Leith Tartan embodies a rich Scottish heritage that traces back to the mid-12th century when the Hay family first settled in Scotland after originating from northern France. Initially a Norman name, the Hays established themselves in England before making their mark in Scotland. The tartan is not just a pattern; it represents the lineage and pride of the Hay family, symbolizing their journey and resilience. Throughout history, tartans have served as identifiers of Scottish clans, with notable figures, including warriors and leaders, often donning their respective patterns to signify allegiance and heritage.
