Historical Context
The Pollock Tartan has deep roots in Scottish heritage, associated with the Pollock clan that has a historic seat at Pollock Castle. The clan's motto, "Audacter Et Strenue," translates to "Boldly and readily." In 1979, Rhys Pollock collaborated with J.C. Thomson to design the original Pollock Tartan, which was then produced by D.C. Dalgliesh Ltd. and registered with the Scottish Tartan Society. Over time, various mills have crafted the Pollock Tartan, leading to minor variations in its weave. Despite these differences, the Pollock Ancient tartan has remained a staple, cherished for its legacy. The clan is currently armigerous, lacking a chief but still celebrating its history through its tartan.
Color Scheme and Pattern
The Pollock Tartan showcases a harmonious blend of earthy tones, integrating deep green with accents of rich terracotta. The pattern is characterized by striking black and white stripes that create a symmetrical grid, intertwined with thin golden lines that add an elegant touch. This classic tartan reflects a balance of traditional and contemporary elements, making it an enduring choice for various occasions. The tartan's unique color scheme is a powerful symbol of Clan Pollock's identity and history.
