Introducing the Menzies Dress Dance Black & White Kilt that takes its name and design from the Menzies Clan, one of the most historic and esteemed clans of Scotland. The Menzies clan, which is one of the oldest clans in Scotland, originated from the district of Menzies in Perthshire. Despite the fact that it initially appears to have been the tartan of the Durisdeer and Enouch Menzies families of the South West Scottish borders, this Black and White tartan is now known as the mourning tartan. The inscription "a chief sable," which reads "a chief sable" across a white shield, is said to have inspired this. It is said to have been created in the early 19th century by a weaver named Thomas Hogarth, who was commissioned by the Menzies clan chief at the time, Sir Robert Menzies.
