Historical Context
The MacBean clan, a significant sept of Clan Chattan, has a rich heritage rooted in the Scottish Highlands, particularly near Inverness. Their participation in key historical events, such as the Battle of Harlaw in 1411, marked them as one of the clans suffering the most losses. Among their notable figures, Gillies MacBean is celebrated for his gallantry during the Battle of Culloden in 1746, where he displayed remarkable bravery against overwhelming odds. Additionally, Major-General William MacBean, who distinguished himself in the Indian Mutiny as an officer in the 93rd Regiment, brought honor to the clan. This storied past imbues the MacBean Ancient Tartan with significant cultural importance, making it well-suited for various occasions and celebrations.
Color Scheme and Pattern
The MacBean Ancient Tartan showcases a vibrant color scheme that includes red, dark green, sky blue, brown, black, and white. Each color holds symbolism, with red representing bravery, dark green symbolizing harmony, sky blue for loyalty, and black reflecting strength. The brown adds depth, while white introduces balance, creating an elegant and stylish pattern that resonates with the clan's history. Crafted from 100% acrylic wool, this tartan ensures durability and comfort, ideal for both formal and casual wear.
