Historical Significance
Step into the enchanting world of Scottish heritage with the Glasgow Tartan. Known as 'MADDER or GLASGOW ROCK and WHEEL,' this tartan weaves together threads of tradition, culture, and pride. The Glasgow Tartan is referenced in Wilsons of Bannockburn's 1819 Key Pattern Book and has roots tracing back to 1790 through correspondence. Its name, derived from 'Glaschu,' an ancient Celtic term meaning 'beloved green place,' pays homage to the missionary endeavors of St. Mungo. The city's emblem, adorned with his symbolism, reflects its inspiring motto, "Let Glasgow flourish." This tartan is not just fabric; it is a living chronicle of Glasgow's rich narrative.
Color Scheme & Pattern
The tartan's intricate pattern displays a harmonious blend of colors, featuring red, green, and blue. Each hue reflects an aspect of Glasgow’s heritage: red signifies the city's vitality and energy, green represents the lush landscapes surrounding the area, and blue mirrors the serene waters of the River Clyde. Crafted from 100% acrylic wool, this tartan offers a perfect combination of durability and comfort, making it a reliable and cozy choice that will last for years.
