Ramsay Blue Tartan

The family is of Anglo-Norman descent and was part of the Lothians in the 12th century. Ramsay originates directly from Old English words "harms" and "eg," which mean "wild garlic" and "island." The Ramsay family originally were from an island where wild garlic was cultivated.
They played a significant role in the Border conflict. George Ramsay of Dalhousie was named Lord Ramsay of Melrose in 1618, however soon after, his title changed again in 1618 to Lord Ramsay of Dalhousie. Clan Ramsay Blue Tartan is an easy-going, light blue hue that is accented by black and dark gray lines that run horizontally and vertically. These lines have thin stripes of cream colors which help enhance the blue hue even more.
