Mactaggart Tartan

The Mactaggart Tartan has its roots in the old Celtic Earls of Ross, with Fearcher Macin Tagart as the first of the O'Beolan or Gillanders. Sagart, his father, was the co-arb or hereditary abbot of the old monastery founded by St. Macbrubha at Applecross in the 7th century. In 1215, Fearcher Macin Tagart showed his loyalty to the King by beheading the leaders of a rebellion and presenting their heads to King Alexander II, who knighted him and later made him Earl of Ross. This historic event cemented the MacTaggarts' place in Scottish nobility and their recognition as a sept of the Clan Ross.
The Mactaggart Tartan is a beautiful blend of purple, green, black, and red. The blue represents the waters of the Scottish coast, while the green symbolizes the lush countryside. The black and red stripes signify the rocky mountains and the blood of the Scottish warriors who fought for their freedom. The pattern itself is a classic plaid design that is both timeless and fashionable. The Mactaggart Tartan is perfect for any occasion, from formal events to casual outings.
